Would you have been born if your parents were NOT J-dubs?
by Highlander ini think it's very safe to say that i would not have been born if one or both of my parents were never jw's.
mom and dad met because they were witnesses.
if not for this cult, they wouldn't have met and i(their armagedden baby) would never have existed.

My Brother Died in a Car Wreck Last Night
by WLG ini just found out about an hour ago.
he wasn't even old enough to drink yet.. to make it even sh*ttier, he had called me a few weeks ago and asked if he could come out here with me but i couldn't do it at the time.
so of course the first thing that comes to mind is if i had done something different it wouldn't have happened.. he was going through the sh*t as i call it, when witnesses go off the deep end and get into everything in the world to stop hurting and they don't even know what is wrong.

Curious? Are JW's allowed to have kinesiology done on them?
by LearningToFly inthe icky leech thing got me thinking on other practices that may or may not be forbidden as well.
i recall long ago now, hearing that kineseology was considered wrong, but i also knew of a sister who studied with me long ago who both she and her husband were childless pioneers, who also spent a considerable amount of time as bethelites telling me that she used this as a medical healing practice, but that most jw's considered it wrong.
she at the time said it was really up to ones conscience, but now its got me thinking?

When I was younger maybe 11 or 12 I recall my mother taking me to a Kinesiology party with other JW's and possibly the woman doing it might have been a JW I can't really remember. I do remember thinking it was kind of strange at the time being only 11 or 12. I think something was said because my mother stopped going shortly after that and I never heard her talk about it again but now I am going to ask her.

Emotional Blackmail and Jehovah's Witneses
by Lady Lee ini posted this way back in 2002. with so m,any new people here it might be time to continue the bring it back up with a few changes.
"any reasonable/god-fearing/humble/etc person....".
but money is used to control people or better stated the lack of money keeps people tied to a promise of future rewards .

Hi again.....formerly Vitameatavegamin
by Mrs. Peck ini haven't posted here in ages, i ended up having to re-register.
so, hi again to all.........alot has happened to me the last few years....went through a divorce, but very happily remarried....also got accepted to nursing school!
life is good...... i am still battling my own demons when it comes to the witnesses........i am very torn at times....i see that this world is getting so much worse, i often wonder if maybe we should all hope for something better in the future......do you think a new world is possible????

Well don't put your trust in Jehovah he can't even stop cougar attacks never mind saving the world Umm that is way to funny! Mrs. Peck, Yes the world is quite a mess it seems like there is no way out sometimes and quite possibly we can and will hit a rock bottom. It would be so much easier to believe sometimes that a "God" was going to step in and save us all from ourselves and I do firmly believe that is why there is religon and the belief in a god. I for one do not believe ignorance is bliss and I do have hope in humanity figuring out its own problems. I sort of have a motto that I use often which is "everything I have gotten myself into I can find a way out of" I believe that will prove true for humans. Don't dispare the minute you stop wondering is the minute you lose your free will to ask questions. Wonder really is a beautiful thing, hard at times but remarkable. ~Mad Love~ Miss Bliss

My youngest Brother (dfed) is a poster child for my jw family
by sosad ini have eight siblings - three hang on to being jw but live their life, one is in the circuit work, one is unbaptised, and mentally challenged, two of us are faded for at at least 18 years and one - the youngest has been dfed twice.. he is 25 now, was dfed as a young teenager originally and went back only to get the boot again.
there was a very definite km a couple of years ago - he had been dfed for a couple of years by that point - and he was kicked out after my parents came home from that meeting.
the funny this is, they had been separated for a few years and had recently reconciled.

Wow that is so rough I really feel for your situation. I wish I had some magic words you could say to him to make it all better but I feel in my heart people need to want to be better. Rehab only really works if the person is willing to get better and with all the god stuff most rehabs throw at you he may resent the program even more. I would keep encouraging him like you are and maybe try to help him through his anger issues he has over the mistreatment by your parents but in the end he has to decide to want it. Getting him here to this site might be a good first step though there is a lot of encouraging people who really do understand what he is going through and maybe talking about feelings will help to get him to want to want it.
I wish you and yours the best

Free at Last, or am I
by Princess Daisy Boo ini have just spent the last 3 or 4 hours reading everyone's posts and i am so thrilled and relieved that sites like this exist which allow us ex jw's to express ourselves.
i feel compelled to share my story, even though it is probably quite unremarkable.
i have this feeling that finally being able to express my thoughts albeit on the web, will finally allow me some freedom!.

Oh I can so relate to your story. I have been out for about 10 or 11 years as well and like you never felt the need to go back or missed it in any way. I am also new to this board, I started posting a few days ago and it was my first ever posting on a site like this. Funny still how that programming works, I am just now startd to realize that I spent the better part of many years being a JW apologist. I also like you still have a relantionship with my parents. I have a child and and we celebrate all holidays like crazy people (we have to make up for lost time )
My parents just recently found out we celebrate the holidays and it wasn't really a problem we just don't talk about it ever and I try hard not to rub it in there faces sort to speak. One thing that really helped me to realize is that you are an adult with your own family, yo make your own decisions now that are good for you. Your parents still loved you after you walked away from religon perhaps if one of your children slip and say something about the holidays it would be small compared to you leaving the whole religon. Also you being gone and happy for 12 years must say something to your parents who notice that. Try to keep living your life the way you are and not be pulled into the old way of thinking whether the society approves of your bahavoir...
